Rabbi Khalfon Moshe HaCohen
Rabbi Khalfon Moshe HaCohen (1874–1950) was one of the greatest sages of Djerba and a towering figure of Torah in North Africa. He served as the Chief Rabbi of Djerba, leading with humility, wisdom, and deep love for his people. Rabbi HaCohen authored many works on Jewish law, ethics, and faith, and he was known for his sharp halachic rulings as well as his compassionate guidance. His leadership kept the Jewish community of Djerba strong in faith and tradition, even during times of challenge and change.
Today, his legacy continues to inspire generations to uphold Torah, kashrut, and the values of integrity, care, and devotion to the Jewish people.
